MEP Project Manager (£50,000 - £60,000)

KDM Group are currently looking to recruit an Electrical Project Manager to join our M&E Team. The Electrical Project Manager will play a crucial role in supporting Key Account Manager and work with engineers, architects, and other professionals to determine project specifications. You will be based at our office in Scotland, with occasional travel required throughout the UK for site visits (primarily the candidate would look after the central belt of Scotland).

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Lead and coordinate electrical and mechanical projects in the context of Retail fitouts from inception to completion, including scheduling, cost estimation, and budget management.
  • Material and Equipment Procurement: Assist the M&E procurement manager of necessary materials and equipment for Retail fit-out projects.
  • Team Management: Manage project staff, subcontractors, and consultants, ensuring that each project team functions efficiently within the Retail environment.
  • Site Management: Oversee construction site managers daily, including supervising labour forces, monitoring subcontractors, inspecting work, and maintaining quality control for Retail fitouts.
  • Project Timeline and Budget Adherence: Ensure Retail fit-out projects are delivered on time and within budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing on budgets, and monitoring progress.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, surveyors, and engineers to review design documents and ensure project alignment with Retail fit-out specifications.
  • Health and Safety: Promote and maintain health and safety standards within the unique context of Retail fitouts, including conducting site inspections to ensure compliance with safety rules.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, including work schedules and progress updates, to keep Retail clients and stakeholders informed.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain regular communication and attend meetings with Retail clients, their representatives, consultants, subcontractors, and others involved in the Retail fit-out project.
  • Problem Solving: Address any unexpected issues that may arise during the Retail fit-out project.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a MEP project manager.
  • Experience with the NICEIC procedures.
  • Electrical qualifications and certifications are essential (2391 or 2394/2395).
  • Experience in HVAC systems.
  • NVQ/SNVQ qualification in a Construction Management discipline or willingness to work towards it through the continuous professional development plan.
  • Current CSCS Card (Managers Recognition).
  • Valid UK driver's license.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety, with either a 5-day SMSTS or IOSH training certificate.
  • Experience in managing multiple sites.
  • Strong man-management skills.
  • Extensive experience in budget management and project cost control.
  • Proficiency in pre-contract coordination.
  • Willingness to travel to visit sites & meet the client when necessary.

Preconstruction/Planning Manager £60k - £70k + company car or £8k car allowance depending on experience

Leeds, Warrington, Bristol or Dalgety Bay – willing to travel throughout the UK to client sites when required

KDM Group, a leading General Contractor and fit-out contractor, is currently looking to recruit an experienced Preconstruction Manager who has ambition and initiative to drive change in a fast-moving construction company. The successful candidate will oversee the preconstruction planning and programming phases of our projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency to meet our clients requirements. The suitable candidate can be based at any of our offices located at; Leeds, Warrington, Bristol or Dalgety Bay but must be willing to travel to various sites throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact during the pre-construction phase, maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Building strong relationships with client representatives and working collaboratively to find efficient planning solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules in line with project management and planning procedures
  • Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to optimise design solutions and meet all applicable building regulations.
  • Provide leadership during pre-construction phases, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the development and review of construction strategies for new projects.
  • Review programs produced by other team members and subcontractors, providing feedback and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Conduct site visits prior to project commencement with contractors and potential subcontractors, acting as the general contractor representative.
  • Coordinate with technical, commercial, and development teams to ensure buildability and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Prepare and review HRB (Higher-Risk Building) and BSA documentation for Building Safety Regulator (BSR) projects.
  • Review the Entire pre-construction pack and submit it for sign-off by the Construction Director, Safety Team, and SLT.
  • Ensure high site presentation standards on planning / pre-construction stage.
  • Gathering and organising pre- and post-work photographic surveys.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or HND in a relevant field.
  • Minimal 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of JCT 2011 MWD and JCT 2011 DB
  • Strong background in construction planning requirements for England and Scotland
  • Confident working across project and programme management environments
  • Expert user of Primavera (P6), with working knowledge of MS Project
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive communicator with a collaborative approach
  • (Desirable) Engineering, Technical background, ideally with General Contractors.
