Estimator (£40,000 - £45,000)

Dalgety Bay, Fife

We are seeking an estimator to join our team based in Dalgety Bay, with projects UK wide. The ideal candidate will be working within a close-knit estimating team and supported by the Estimating manager. You will be responsible for calculating construction cost estimates, for main contractor and Joinery Packages with project values from £100k to £15 million.

You should have excellent communication skills and great attention to detail.  Be able to negotiate with a range of professionals, make accurate time and cost estimates, and resolve any issues that arise. Would suit an estimator with a joinery background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labour for construction projects.
  • Create accurate Schedule of Works from Drawings and specifications.
  • Researching construction documents and analysing specifications.
  • Preparing estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work from first principles.
  • Preparing estimates to meet project goals, such as setting work hours, sequencing tasks, obtaining materials, and securing the best deals with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline.
  • Regularly reporting to Management and keeping clients updated on the project status.
  • Formulating contingency plans and effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time estimates.
  • Keeping track of the latest estimating technology and industry-related techniques.
  • Collaborating with other teams, conducting site visits, and providing other services, like bid deliveries, when required.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification (degree level preferable) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or an equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as an estimator in the construction field.
  • Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction Contracts. Specifically Design & Build.
  • Excellent management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to travel and perform site visits when required.
  • Knowledge of Bespoke Joinery and on-site Joinery activities.

Site Manager (£45,000 - £50,000)

Scotland

KDM Group are currently looking to recruit an experienced Site Manager to join our Operations Team. The successful candidate will oversee and manage the day-to-day health and safety onsite and will be responsible for duties including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work, and overseeing quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the site activity, including organising the schedule of work. 
  • Ensure employees and subcontractors and delivering a quality service onsite.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed and Health and Safety regional legislation is adhered to. 
  • Laisse with the client onsite when appropriate.
  • Maintain regular communication and attend meetings with clients and their representatives to inform them of progress on the project, i.e. stakeholder management. 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid UK driver’s licence. 
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety with either a 5-day SMSTS or IOSH training certificate.
  • Experience with site management of projects relevant to the client sector.
  • Well established and effective man management skills.
  • Must be first aid qualified and willing to achieve mental health first aid certification.
  • Possess an NVQ/SNVQ qualification in a Construction Management discipline or be willing to work towards this through the KDM Group continuous professional development plan.
  • Must hold a current CSCS Card (Managers Recognition)

The successful candidate must be willing to work out of normal working hours as most of the work is carried out on nights & occasionally away from home.

Approved Electrician ( Commercial )

KDM Group UK are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Electrician to work on construction and commercial projects throughout the United Kingdom. The successful candidate must have experience in the commercial and retail sectors and will carry out a variety of electrical services including small power & lighting installations, fit out projects including upgrade schemes in a commercial environment.

  • 18th Edition regulations.

Requirements

  • JIB/ECS Card.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.
  • Asbestos Awareness desirable but not essential.
  • IPAF desirable but not essential.
  • PASMA desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate must be willing to work out of normal working hours as most of the work is carried out on nights & occasionally away from home.
