Construction of new stable boxes and flood defences with associated floodplain compensation and spoil bunds, that will be designed and built to reduce the risk of flooding and meet the current racing guidance by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA).
Scope of Work: The scope of work for this project included the following activities.
We worked to our programme schedule whilst identifying key dates within the race calendar to ensure all scheduled events could still go ahead. One of our biggest challenges was the weather which remained a continuous test throughout the project.
Fully refurbished stable boxes with flood defences to reduce flooding. Our flood defences were put to the ultimate test in January when storm Henk unleashed its damaging winds and heavy rain across the UK. According to the Met Office in the first four days of January, most of England and Wales and parts of eastern Scotland received 30 to 50mm, with over 50mm across much of Wales and parts of southern England.
